The N.R.A. which stands for the National Rifle Association is a group that teaches firearm responsiblity and pursues the rights to keep fully automatic weapons around so when you confront that group of well armed deer in the forest, you can safely protect yourselves. The NRA has good values and has some really screwed up ones. My personal beliefs are if someone wants to own a firearm, they can as long as they are trained to use it. Automatic weapons aren’t used for protection, they are meant to kill someone with minimal training. A person with good weapons training is more dangerous than someone with an automatic gun. Why? The intended target will get shot. The auto means anyone can get shot. I’m done before I get in to a long gun control debate.

Automatic weapons in the hands of well-trained people aren’t a bad thing — just ask the Marines. As for me, I always find it comforting to know that people can protect themselves by spraying bullets in the general direction of, well, everything.
Hey, I’m Canadian – we’ve got a gun registry, though it’s been a huge fight here, too. But it’s nowhere near like the fanciful view of Toronto in “Bowling for Columbine,” either.
