![]() Strip # 170 Updated On 4/1/09 ![]() And to contiune the intermission, we have The Sons by Daniel Escobedo at www.thesonscomic.com. Thanks Daniel for the wonderful comic you provided. ![]() Strip # 171 Updated On 4/2/09 ![]() Genuine Draft's next intermission strip is Slightly Off Topic by David Adams. I've just started reading it and it's a bit odd, in a good way. Thanks Dave. ![]() Strip # 172 Updated On 4/3/09 BattleMark. It's a title that has been around since the late 80's. In this incarnation, it's was one of Friction Fit Theatre's original concepts. It was the main feature. I made nearly 60 strips of BattleMark before I lost interest in the concept. I had them lying around and decided to use them. BattleMark Act:1 No.173 to No.220 ![]() Strip # 173 Updated On 4/4/09 Battle Mark. I know there's a heavy Star Wars influence here. But! It was neccesary to tell the story and besides this was made before I got a bunch of new minifigs. ![]() Strip # 174 Updated On 4/5/09 In the world, Rimminion has the most powerful military technology. Solomeade, is the most agressive. Mylar, well, they were more passive thinking their neighbors would save them. The other races are long since gone or occupied by Solomeade. ![]() Strip # 175 Updated On 4/6/09 The set for these pics are 4 baseplates long. I built a few demo'd buildings then the various bases and defenses. Then just piled tons of bricks to make it look like a battle scene. ![]() Strip # 176 Updated On 4/7/09 This strip was extesivly photoshopped. It wasn't easy to get it to look like flight. So I scanned in the clouds, took a picture of the bomb and fighter on a black background. Erased the black, put the fighter over the clouds, added the jet fire a bit of motion blur and there you have Lego in flight. The bomb was done seperately, lotsa blur and it's dropped. ![]() Strip # 177 Updated On 4/8/09 The first 7 strips of Battle Mark were organized very poorly. I had a script and took pics as needed, it took a bit of work to get things lined up. So in some cases I just had to improvise. In case I failed to mention it, Battle Mark was the first version of my Lego comic which was later discontinued. More on that tomorrow. ![]() Strip # 178 Updated On 4/9/09 Another heavy photoshopped pic. The original BattleMark lasted 45 strips I think, they've been renumbered for this storyline. When I first filmed Genuine Draft, I had taken what I learned from doing these to make a better strip. There is more organization, each panel gets it's picture number written next to it so I don't have the problems like I did with the Battle Mark strips. ![]() Strip # 179 Updated On 4/10/09 Rose has returned. A simple effect for the view screen. The 3rd panel full of burps, the technicle term for Big Ugly Rock Pieces. Not many fans in the building communities but they have a simple purpose. ![]() Strip # 180 Updated On 4/11/09 Between Mylar and Rimminion is a De-Militarized Zone, a DMZ. They don't have any issues with each other, but Mylar is kinda pushy with their Global Government push. Of course since they've been over run by Solomeade, it's a potential conflict area between Rimminion and Solomeade. ![]() Strip # 181 Updated On 4/12/09 I like the way the 1st panel turned out. But getting the weapon effects were not something I am happy with. I have new ways of doing them now that look good. Panel three is once again using a pic that wasn't numbered or in reality what I wanted. When I assembled them into panels, I didn't have the picture I need so I improvised. And used one of my favorite stock explosions. |
